Removalists in Clontarf

Clontarf is one of Sydney’s smallest and most tightly held suburbs, a few hundred freestanding homes on a sheltered inlet of Middle Harbour, within sight of the Spit Bridge, and overwhelmingly owner-occupied. When people do move here they tend to have stayed a very long time, so a Clontarf move is almost always a careful, whole-house job where the contents represent a lifetime of accumulation and the trust placed in the removalist is proportional to how rarely anyone leaves.

When people do move here they tend to have stayed a very long time, so a Clontarf move is almost always a careful, whole-house job where the contents represent a lifetime of accumulation and the trust placed in the removalist is proportional to how rarely anyone leaves. The Spit Bridge is right on the suburb’s doorstep, Spit Road runs along its western edge, which makes any Clontarf-to-city run the most Spit-affected move in the precinct, so the truck timing is the first thing we plan. On the ground, the foreshore-facing streets drop toward Middle Harbour and the beach reserve, so the carry and the staging point are worked out in advance; on the flatter inland streets it is a scouted spot and careful handling all the way through.

The local one-off

Clontarf has only a few hundred freestanding homes on a Middle Harbour inlet with the Spit Bridge on its doorstep, one of Sydney's most tightly held suburbs, so almost every move is a long-held whole-house job.

02 · The accessWhat we plan around in Clontarf

Every Clontarf move starts with the access, because that is what decides the truck, the crew and the timing. Here is what we plan around:

  • A few hundred freestanding homes only, overwhelmingly owner-occupied, one of Sydney’s most tightly held, rarely-sold suburbs
  • The Spit Bridge is literally on the doorstep (Spit Road runs the western edge), so city-bound timing is the first planning step
  • Foreshore-facing streets drop toward Middle Harbour and the Clontarf beach reserve, staging and carry are planned ahead
  • Almost always a long-held, high-value whole-house move where care matters as much as speed

Send us the pickup and drop-off addresses with your quote and we will tell you exactly how we would handle your move, including the loading spot, the carry and any lift, staircase or slope that needs a plan.

04 · Parking & permitsParking and permits across the Manly precinct

This is the fact that shapes every Manly-precinct move: there is no parking permit for a removal truck anywhere on the Northern Beaches. Northern Beaches Council runs a Manly Parking Permit Scheme, but it explicitly excludes trucks (along with motor homes, buses, caravans and trailers), and the resident beach permits cover a car, not a Pantech, and aren’t valid in metered zones anyway. On the beachfront, North Steyne, South Steyne and the Queenscliff end, there is a 4-hour metered limit that applies regardless of any permit, so a truck cannot stand outside a beach-side block all day. And in the centre of Manly, The Corso has been a pedestrian mall since 1979, so a truck physically cannot drive through it to reach a beach-side address. So the realistic, legal approach is the one we use every day: park the truck legally, scout the best loading position off the metered frontage before the day, route around The Corso where the address is beach-side, and work efficiently to the limit. On the steep harbour suburbs it is the carry and the driveway that decide the day, not a permit you could buy if one existed. (Council’s permit rules and fees are theirs and can change, confirm current details with Northern Beaches Council.)

05 · QuestionsClontarf removals: common questions

Why does the Spit Bridge matter so much in Clontarf?

Spit Road runs along Clontarf’s western edge, so the Spit Bridge is literally on the suburb’s doorstep, any city-bound run from here is the most Spit-affected move in the precinct. We plan the truck timing around the published bridge openings as the very first step.

What kind of moves happen in Clontarf?

Almost always careful, long-held whole-house moves. With only a few hundred freestanding homes and very high owner-occupation, people who live here tend to stay a very long time, so a Clontarf move usually involves a lifetime of contents and a home that has been loved, we treat it accordingly.

Is the foreshore access difficult?

The foreshore-facing streets drop toward Middle Harbour and the Clontarf beach reserve, so on those blocks we work out the staging point and the carry in advance. On the flatter inland streets it is a scouted spot and careful handling all the way through.

How much does a Clontarf move cost?

Our online-quote rates start at $200/hour for two movers and a truck ($250 for three, $400 for a larger crew with two trucks), and you get a clear indicative quote up front for your specific move. No surprises on the day.
